28 Days Later: The Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccination Process

In what was been described by the Pfizer CEO as a "historic moment", the UK Department of Health and Social Care spokesman confirmed this week that : “The government has accepted the recommendation from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) to approve Pfizer/BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine for use."

As the rapid rollout begins, this infographic looks at the process and how long it takes to achieve full immunity in the case of a successful vaccination. As reported by the BBC, this particular vaccine requires two doses. 12 days after the first jab, immunity starts to build. After 21 days a second dose is required, allowing the body to develop full immunity by day 28.
